This is a leadership position and requires confidence with horticultural knowledge, the ability to lead a small team with a positive and encouraging outlook, and to take direction from the Operations Manager.

Jobs include:

  • Execute horticultural tasks on private properties from Ladysmith to Qualicum Beach.

  • Drive team work truck, coordinating necessary tools and maintaining an organized and clean truck work space.

  • Receive direction from the Operations Manager on priority tasks to complete on each property, execute within specified timeframe and delegate work flow to team of 1-2 technicians on a daily basis.

  • Lead the installation of new landscaping projects under the direction of the Operations Manager. Should be willing to learn to read landscaping design plans if unable.

  • Execute ecosystem restoration projects under the Operations Manager including erosion control, invasive plant removal and planting.

Work can be labour intensive, physical fitness is essential.

Skills you possess:

  • Friendly, professional attitude to clients and coworkers.

  • Excellent knowledge of horticultural practices including, pruning, plant identification, mulching, disease/pest prevention and control, and planting.

  • Strong plant identification/plant health knowledge. Ability to identify native plant species is a bonus

  • Excellent attention to detail and time management ability

  • Strong leadership skills, and proven experience managing a small team successfully

  • Ability to take direction, and take initiative when needed

  • Valid driver's license

Position is for the 2026 season, starting at the end of February - ending in December, with opportunity to continue in 2027. Monday to Friday, 9am-4:30pm. Starting wage $25-$27/hr with growth potential.
