Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada SS Family Full time

Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced educator to join a family in providing part-time, in-class support for a bright, energetic Grade 1 student at a private school.

This role goes beyond academic assistance; it fosters emotional and academic growth, helping the student thrive in the classroom.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Former or retired elementary school teachers, learning support teachers, or educational therapists, who are open to in-school support roles.
  • Strong background in both classroom differentiation and emotional support, including behaviour regulation and enrichment-based learning.
  • Ability to connect with the student on both an emotional and intellectual level, encouraging their strengths and providing thoughtful challenges.
  • Ability to create an inclusive learning environment within a classroom that fosters respect and motivation, not pulling the student out unnecessarily.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect effectively with the student, the school and the family.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer one-on-one in-class support that balances academic enrichment with emotional encouragement.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to ensure the student is fully engaged and supported within the classroom setting.
  • Act as a supportive presence, fostering not just educational success but also the student's overall well-being, turning high energy into engagement, enrichment, and growth within the classroom.

If you are a caring and experienced educator who values both emotional and academic development of students, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a brief bio. We'll be conducting interviews in coordination with the family to find the right fit for this meaningful role.
