About Us: Crowfoot Village Family Practice (CVFP) is a large, team-based primary care clinic serving our community in Northwest Calgary. We are seeking a Director of Operations to join our senior leadership team and strengthen the systems, teams, and operational foundations that support high-quality, team-based primary care.

The Role: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Operations has overall responsibility for the operational and people systems that support a multidisciplinary team of approximately 70 team members including registered nurses, medical office assistants, and administrative staff (representative of 35 FTE). This is a senior leadership role with organization-wide accountability, supported by team captains and a Registered Nursing lead who oversee day-to-day workflows.

The Director of Operations creates the conditions for high-performing teams by ensuring our people, processes, and systems are aligned, well-supported, and continuously improving. This role blends people leadership, operational oversight, and creative problem-solving in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

People and Team Leadership

• Provide leadership and oversight for recruitment, selection, onboarding, development, and performance management across the clinic

• Support and coach team captains and operational leaders, strengthening team-based care and accountability

• Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, psychological safety, and innovation

• Lead staff engagement initiatives, recognition, and appreciation efforts

Operations and Systems

• Oversee payroll, benefits, and the master staff schedule, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and sustainability

• Collaborate on policies, processes, and pathways that guide how we work together

• Partner with clinical and administrative leaders to identify and address operational challenges

• Support effective handling of patient concerns with empathy and professionalism

• Creation, maintenance and oversight of the master staffing schedule

Improvement and Innovation

• Lead and support operational improvement initiatives, including workflow redesign and process optimization

• Work alongside the Executive Director to explore how technology and digital tools can streamline operations and reduce friction for staff

• Contribute to planning, implementation, and evaluation of special projects and organizational initiatives

What You Bring

• Experience in a senior operations or people leadership role, ideally in a healthcare, service-based, or highly regulated environment

• Demonstrated success leading teams in complex organizations where people and systems must work closely together

• Strong judgment, adaptability, and the ability to troubleshoot creatively in real time

• Comfort with payroll systems, HR processes, scheduling, EMRs, and operational technology

• Excellent communication skills and a calm, collaborative leadership style

• A genuine interest in supporting people and building strong, functional teams

Compensation and Work Arrangement: CVFP offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, vacation, and benefits package.
