Vegetation Management Technicians (VMT) (aka. Weed Sprayer, Herbicide Applicator)

We anticipate the job (your training) to start in early May in Nisku, AB.

This position involves:

· Working away from home, in the field across western Canada, for extended periods

· Herbicide application and weed management

· Weed identification and record keeping

· Inventory and equipment management

· Equipment operation and maintenance

· Quality customer contact and public relations

Conditions of employment:

· Be 18 years of age or older

· Be able to pass a Drug (Cannabis) and Alcohol test

· Have valid class 5 driver's license for at least 2 years within Canada

· Provide a driver's abstract suitable to our insurance

· Standard First Aid Level C certification with AED

· H2S Alive

· CSO/CSTS 2020

These certifications are an added bonus:

· UTV Safety Training

· Herbicide Applicator License (BC, AB, SK, MB)

· Wildlife/Bear Awareness

· Class 1 or 3 driver's license

· Confined space

We want people who:

· Have strong written and verbal communication skills

· Have a great attitude and are safety focused

· Are in good health, bondable and energetic

· Are willing to work with others outdoors for long hours with overtime

Expected compensation for full-season participation is as follows (this estimate is based on previous seasons; staff are paid hourly). The wages are $20-25 per hour depending on experience.

First year VMT $14,000-$18,000 plus meal allowance paid over the course of the season

Second year VMT $16,000-$22,000 plus meal allowance paid over the course of the season

Third year VMT $19,000-$24,000 plus meal allowance paid over the course of the season

Accommodation and meal allowances are provided while working away from home base.
