Position Overview:

The General Accountant supports the Finance team in a multi-entity hospitality and retail furnishing industry. Reporting to the VP of Finance & Operations, this position ensures seamless process in handling financial transactions while maintaining tight internal control.

Key Job Functions & Responsibilities:

· Process customer and supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy against sales quotes and purchase orders

· Maintain good relationships with vendors and ensure all invoices are recorded timely

· Cash flow management and exercise sound judgement in scheduling vendor payments

· Prepare monthly multi-currency bank and credit card reconciliations

· Assist in month-end close activities and preparation of year-end working papers

· Monitor tax compliance to ensure all applicable sales taxes are filed and remitted

· Recommend and implement improvements to processes and internal controls

· Other duties as deemed necessary based upon business and/or department needs

Experience & Educational Requirements

· 3 to 5 years full-cycle accounting experience including A/P, A/R, and bookkeeping

· Post-Secondary Education (Certificate, Diploma or Degree) in Accounting or related field

· Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures

· Previous experience in manufacturing environment and proficiency with QuickBooks are considered an asset

Skills & Competencies

· Solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures

· High level of accuracy and attention to detail

· Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines

· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders

· Innovative thinker with a focus on process improvement and efficiency

· Clear verbal and written communication skills

· Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to learn new systems quickly

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
