Early Childhood Educator

This is a front line teaching and childcare position within an Early Childhood Centre. The incumbent will be required to be a graduate of a recognized University or College, Early Childhood (or related) program; and be certified Early Childhood Educator

The purpose of the Early Childhood educator is to enable children to participate to their full potential in environments that are carefully planned to serve individual needs and to facilitate the child's progress in the social, emotional, physical and cognitive areas of development. Early Childhood Educators must adhere to the highest standards of ethical practice to care for and educate young children.

Key Tasks

Support and promote each child's physical development, emotional well-being, growth, social development, communication skills, cognitive social development, ethical understanding and development and creativity

Develop a warm, caring and responsive relationship with each child and with the group of children;

Provide effective behaviour guidance;

Use observations to assess children's skills, abilities, interests and needs

Create and maintain a sanitary environment that minimizes the risk of infection or food contamination

Create and maintain an environment that protects the health and safety of children and adults

Identify and report possible evidence of abuse and neglect

Protect and promote children's physical health and well being

Establish and maintain a psychologically safe environment for each child and for the group of children;

Recognize signs and symptoms of emotional or development delays or challenges and take appropriate action

Establish and maintain an open, cooperative relationship with each child's family with others working in the child care setting and with other community service providers.

Reflect on ones' own knowledge, attitudes and skills and take appropriate actions to develop professionally.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.80-$30.81 per hour
