The ideal candidate is is a hands-on leader that blends strategy, execution, and mentorship. You'll partner closely with Product and Design to align on priorities, drive operational excellence, and ensure the right balance between innovation and stability. You'll also help evolve our development processes and foster a culture of ownership, curiosity, and continuous improvement across both teams. You are energized by leading talented engineers through growth, navigating complex systems and integrations, and finding scalable solutions that deliver real customer value - this role is for you.
Note: Practice Better is a remote-first company with team members across North America. However, this particular role is currently open to Canadian-based candidates only, and preference will be given to applicants legally authorized to work in Canada.
What You'll Be Doing- Build, mentor, and empower two high-performing teams (Core Growth) responsible for product fundamentals and conversion-critical experiences & hire top talent while maintaining high technical and cultural standards.
- Partner with Product and Design on roadmap definition, ensuring alignment between impact, effort, and strategic outcomes as well as own prioritization across two teams, balancing short-term delivery, technical debt reduction, and platform scalability.
- Act as a key bridge between Engineering, Product, Design, and Customer Success &
- Collaborate with Product, Design and Customer Experience teams as well as Platform and AI teams to support shared architecture and drive product innovation translating complex technical updates into clear, actionable communication for business stakeholders.
- Maintain oversight of 20 third-party integrations, ensuring reliability, uptime, and proactive vendor coordination whilst making informed build-vs-buy decisions with consideration for cost, maintenance, and long-term scalability.
- Identify and remove systemic blockers to engineering productivity, driving continuous improvement, defining and tracking operational metrics as well as team health indicators
- 8 years of relevant experience in Engineering Management & Leadership with 3 years managing multiple engineering teams
- Proven ability to guide management and maintenance operating in a complex third-party integrations (e.g. Stripe, Zoom, Fullscript) and vendor ecosystems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a bias for clarity and action
- Strong technical grounding in web application architecture (React, , or similar), APIs, and integrations
- Analytical, curious, and adaptable - you seek solutions, not perfection
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, growth-stage environment
- Awareness and experience working with current AI trends with enthusiasm for applying AI to improve development efficiency or customer experience

Each role has a defined pay range based on its level, scope, and geographic location. Final offers are determined by several factors, including experience, demonstrated skills, and location, to ensure consistency and equity across our team.
Anticipated Base Salary Range (Canada): $150,000 – $170,000 CAD
