The Chief Nursing and Support Admin Portfolio has a specialized focus on enterprise-wide clinical services including\: Skin Wound & Ostomy (SWO), Vascular Access Therapy (VAT), and Authorizing Mechanisms & Policy/Document Management (AMPDM). This portfolio contributes to system-wide transformative change, providing expert internal and external support to acute and community providers, and supports the Care Transformation strategy across HHS.
1. Completion of Masters level Nursing degree or related field from a CNO accredited academic institution required
2. Current certificate with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
3. Certificate as a Nurse Specialized in Skin, Wound and Ostomy care (NSWOC) and/or certification through Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) in Wound, Ostomy & Continence - WOCC(C)
4. 3-5 years of recent clinical experience in wound care
5. 3-5 years of recent formal or informal leadership roles preferred
6. Experience in developing, monitoring, and evaluating change with program planning and evaluation methodology
7. Demonstrated ability to provide education to patients and health professionals regarding skin, wound, burns and stoma care, as well as mentor clinical staff.
8. Knowledge of full scope of treatment modalities for skin, wound, burns and stoma management and preventative skin care techniques.
9. Knowledge and experience in implementation of the principles of adult teaching and learning.
10. Demonstrated ability to effectively apply current research knowledge to clinical practice.
11. Demonstrated ability to lead and evaluate quality improvement initiatives.
12. Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
13. Demonstrated ability to assist unit staff to problem-solve patient skin care issues including pressure reduction surfaces, utilizing fiscal resources responsibly.
14. Expertise in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and proficiency in navigating electronic platforms and data analysis.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) applies advanced specialized nursing knowledge in the realm of skin, wound, ostomy, & continence care. The CNS promotes excellence in nursing practice by\: educating and mentoring others; generating new nursing knowledge through innovation and research; promoting knowledge translation and mobilization through continuous quality improvement; and data analysis and management in complex healthcare issues such as pressure injury prevention. As a valued nursing leader, the SWO CNS is responsible for systems-level initiatives, the development of standards and quality initiatives, and metric reporting related to wound care needs, championing evidence-informed practices for the organization.
This role functions within all aspects of the five domains of CNS practice including\: practice, education, research, consultation, and leadership. The CNS contributes to overall quality of care and system change through education and research, offering expert consultation and nursing leadership.
Monday to Friday, days. Please note that this position must be flexible for multi-site clinical support as required.
