About the Role

We are hiring a Director of Finance & Operations to lead the financial and operational backbone of our company. This senior leadership role will partner closely with the CEO to design scalable systems, optimize processes, and ensure financial stability while shaping the long-term strategic direction of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Financial & Accounting Oversight

  • Oversee all finance and accounting functions: AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations, month-end close.
  • Analyze sales performance and financial data by reviewing sales reports, margin and profitability by clients and products; set and monitor sales targets in alignment with financial goals.
  • Manage cash flow, budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and external audit requirements.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to guide executive decision-making.

Operational Leadership

  • Lead daily operations, including supply chain, warehousing, logistics, and vendor management.
  • Build and refine processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Drive technology adoption to automate workflows and strengthen reporting, primarily using Sage 50 (Simply Accounting) and industry specific platform Sage Workplace
  • Ensure compliance with operational and OH&S standards.

Strategic Growth

  • Partner with the CEO to develop and execute business growth strategies.
  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics to drive accountability and results.
  • Identify new tools, vendors, and systems that unlock scalability and efficiency.
  • Contribute to talent planning and organizational design as the business grows.

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in operations and/or finance, with at least 3 years in a senior manager or director role.
  • CPA designation (or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Experience in supply chain, logistics, or product distribution environments.
  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable processes in growing businesses.
  • ERP/financial systems expertise (Sage 50 and/or Sage Workplace).
  • Experience with Ariba and Coupa is an asset.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on leader who can balance daily execution with long-term planning.
  • Thrives in a start-up environment adaptable, decisive, and able to create structure in ambiguity.
  • Brings creativity and innovation to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
