Purpose of the Role:

· The Engineering Technician role is an important link between design, construction engineering, 2D drawing and 3D graphical production. Working in small project teams the lines between engineering and CAD/BIM production are fluent in our company. This is an exciting opportunity to gain expertise within our company, with a view of building a long-term career with Dr. G. Sauer and Partners in tunnel and heavy civil engineering, with ambition to pursue further engineering and graphical design education to potentially achieve a P.Eng. designation.

Job Description:

· Interpret and accurately translate engineering sketches and markups into fully developed and properly documented drawings.

· Develop and maintain accurate 3D BIM models in accordance with project BIM/CAD standards, design requirements, and project-specific execution plans.

· Produce detailed engineering drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, and schedules.

· Support the preparation of construction documentation and design submission packages from Tender through to As-Built stages.

· Apply and maintain internal CAD/BIM standards, drawing templates, naming conventions, and workflow procedures.

· Assist the engineering team in producing 3D models and 2D drawings for concrete and/or steel structures, tunnel linings, foundations, and geotechnical and temporary works design.

· Contribute to the improvement of BIM processes, templates, automation, animation and digital design tools.

· Working from a collaborative office environment.

Required Skills & Expertise:

· Sound knowledge of engineering design procedures and principles.

· Good problem-solving ability.

· Strong visual–spatial skills and willingness to further develop graphical and engineering capabilities.

· Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, manage workload, and meet deadlines.

Key Qualifications:

· Graduate from a Bachelor of Engineering or Technology Program (Civil/Structural preferred).

· Experience with tunnel, infrastructure, or structural projects is an asset.

· Proven high proficiency with Autodesk (Revit and AutoCAD) and Bentley products (MicroStation and OpenBuildings), ideally supported by a portfolio of work.

· Ability to produce accurate engineering drawings and detailed BIM models.

· Minimum 3–5 years of CAD/BIM experience in engineering or infrastructure projects.

· Strong communication skills, with solid literacy and numeracy capabilities.

· Ability to use time productively, remain productive and meet challenging project goals.

· Interest in a long-term career in tunnel and heavy civil engineering, with ambition to pursue further engineering and graphical design education to potentially achieve a P.Eng. designation.

· Legally eligible to work in Canada.
