Newmont North America operations are located in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec with roles in operations, projects, and exploration. Regional Support is provided from our office in Vancouver.

Your ImpactAs an Advisor, Health & Safety, Exploration Canada, you will play a critical role in supporting safe, efficient, and responsible exploration activities across our sites. You will guide frontline leaders, conduct field inspections, identify hazards, and support the implementation of risk controls that protect people from injuries, illnesses, and operational harm. Your expertise will directly contribute to Newmont's goal of eliminating fatalities and maintaining a strong, risk-informed safety culture.
You will also have a strong focus on drilling activities, providing oversight and coaching to drilling partners, and supporting the safe delivery of Brownfields Exploration programs across multiple project locations.
This is an onsite role on a two-week on / two-week off rotation at our Brucejack Mine Site, with occasional rotations at the Red Chris Mine Site as required.
As Part of Our Team, You Will- Drive the process of identifying, prioritizing, and assessing operational risks, ensuring projects have appropriate risk management plans and controls in place.
- Create, manage, monitor, and update operational plans, risk registers, and emergency response plans.
- Monitor and conduct field and drill-rig inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Deliver hands-on safety coaching and training to site personnel and business partners, demonstrating standard methodology and proper use of safety equipment, including pre-task hazard assessments, general risk assessments, event reporting, and 5-Why investigations.
- Implement safety protocols and procedures tailored to on-site conditions, ensuring all staff and business partners are trained and compliant.
- Collaborate in and implement safety programs such as fatal risk management and incident management, integrating field observations and feedback into ongoing program development.
- Track, report, and analyze leading and lagging indicators.
- Support and influence site and project frontline leaders in the safe execution of work, promoting engagement and improvement through Visible Felt Leadership.
- Coordinate OHS Representative or equivalent programs.
- Operationalize safety management systems (e.g., change management processes).
Support LOD1 assurance programs for H&S standards and processes.
Education and Knowledge
- A diploma, degree, or relevant training in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of industry-recognized safety systems, standards, and processes (e.g., OSHA, MSHA).
- Understanding of regulatory requirements, investigation processes, hazard identification, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Familiarity with change management fundamentals and safety management systems.
- Experience in field-based H&S work within exploration, mining, drilling, construction, or similar environments.
- Competent proficiency in implementing health and safety systems, standards, monitoring processes, and regulatory compliance.
- Foundational proficiency in applying operational risk management processes.
- Ability to conduct safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
- Experience delivering coaching and training to frontline personnel.
- Foundational data analysis skills to monitor and report performance indicators.
Foundational project management and basic commercial skills (planning, reporting, budgeting awareness).
- Strong communication and influencing skills to build trust with diverse teams.
- Self-awareness and the ability to adapt your approach to achieve productive outcomes.
- Effective team member skills: listening, clarifying tasks, and giving and receiving feedback.
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and support a positive safety culture.
- Demonstrated drive, determination, and commitment to doing work that supports Newmont's purpose and values.
- Work Type: Full-time role supporting exploration sites and projects.
- Rotation: Two weeks on / two weeks off at our Brucejack Camp, with occasional travel to the Red Chris site.
- Schedule: Follows the regular rotation schedule.
- Setting: A combination of office-based administrative work and field-based activities in active mining and exploration environments.
- You will spend significant time in the field conducting site visits, drill-rig inspections, and providing hands-on safety coaching in outdoor or remote terrain.
- Travel to other exploration projects across the region may be required.
- You will collaborate closely with operations supervisors, superintendents, H&S peers, the Systems & Reporting team, OHS representatives, and business partners.
- Safety: Strict adherence to all PPE requirements and site safety standards is mandatory at all times.

The expected salary range for this role is CAD $ 83,400-111,180. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
