Shift Schedule: Rotational shifts (morning, afternoon, and night)

Shift Details:

Morning Shift: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Afternoon Shift: 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Night Shift: 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Position Overview

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for conducting routine quality checks throughout production to ensure products meet company specifications, food safety standards, and customer requirements. This role supports the daily execution of the Quality Management System by collecting data, maintaining records, identifying non-conformances, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and finished product inspections, including weight, appearance, dimensions, temperature, and packaging integrity
  • Monitor and verify Critical Control Points (CCPs) and prerequisite programs such as metal detection, allergen controls, and sanitation checks
  • Accurately collect and record quality data using approved forms and systems, ensuring proper lot traceability
  • Conduct Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and environmental audits on the production floor and work with supervisors and operators to implement corrective actions
  • Place products on hold when required and complete non-conformance documentation; support root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions
  • Verify calibration status and perform basic checks of quality control equipment such as scales, thermometers, and metal detectors
  • Support production start-ups and changeovers, including label verification, line clearance, and code checks
  • Assist with training production staff on quality standards, GMPs, and documentation requirements
  • Participate in internal, customer, and third-party audits by preparing and providing required documentation
  • Escalate food safety or quality concerns immediately and stop production when necessary to protect product integrity and consumer safety

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Post-secondary education in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field is an asset
  • Minimum one year of experience in a food manufacturing or production environment preferred
  • Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP principles, and allergen control programs is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to complete accurate documentation under time constraints
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with production teams
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Work is primarily performed in a production environment with exposure to noise, temperature changes, and food ingredients, including allergens
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg occasionally and use stairs or ladders as required
  • Mandatory use of personal protective equipment and adherence to hygiene and safety policies

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
