Overview

We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Deli Department Clerk to join our team. This role is essential in providing excellent customer service, ensuring food safety, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the deli area. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation, cashiering, and food handling within a fast-paced retail or food service environment. Prior experience with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS is a plus. This position offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills, gain retail experience, and work in a dynamic team setting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and package a variety of deli foods following safety and sanitation standards
  • Operate POS systems including Aloha POS and Micros POS for transactions
  • Assist customers with selections, answer questions about products, and provide exceptional customer service
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the deli area, including proper food handling and storage
  • Restock shelves, arrange displays, and ensure product freshness
  • Upsell products to enhance customer experience and increase sales
  • Handle cash register operations accurately, including cash handling and basic math calculations
  • Follow food safety guidelines and sanitation procedures at all times
  • Assist with bussing tables or cleaning as needed in the café or retail environment
  • Support other team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operations

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in food preparation, food service, or retail is preferred
  • Knowledge of POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS is advantageous
  • Strong customer service skills with a friendly attitude
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Good time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively during busy hours
  • Basic math skills for cash handling and retail math calculations
  • Understanding of food safety standards and sanitation practices
  • Experience working in quick service restaurants, grocery stores, cafés, or similar environments is beneficial
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts as needed; prior restaurant or food industry experience is a plus

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.20-$27.46 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 37 per week
