The Category Advisor will act as Walmart's category expert by providing category & shopper insights and actionable go-to-market recommendations. They will work closely with Walmart's merchant team to develop and grow total category sales by analyzing various data sources, identifying business insights, and recommending solutions. This position works as a strategic thought leader, imparting knowledge of the category and member to drive profitable business results. The applicant will work from home however will need to work at the Walmart Home Office and Innovation center located in Mississauga when needed.

Responsibilities:

· Category Strategy Development:

Creating and implementing comprehensive category strategies aligned with overall business goals.

· Performance Management:

Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales, margin, and market share, and taking corrective actions as needed.

· Product Assortment:

Managing the product selection within the category, ensuring a relevant and competitive offering.

· Planogram Management:

Build, develop and maintain planograms for the merchants that maximize sales and productivity for the categories

· Supplier Relationship Management:

Collaborating with suppliers to optimize product sourcing, inventory management, and promotional activities.

· Market Research:

Analyzing market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify growth opportunities.

· Cross-functional Collaboration:

Working closely with other departments such as space planning, supply chain, and store operations to ensure successful execution of category strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (emphasis in business/marketing or related field)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Category Management philosophies, tools and processes and a proven record of success
  • Analytics: Competency in developing business/category knowledge, and ability to leverage analytics and data.
  • Strategic thinking, self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with aggressive deadlines.
  • Innovates and Reapplies: Ability to design and create capability.
  • Advanced analytical skills and computer software proficiency (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Advanced Retail Link knowledge preferred.
  • Proficiency with space management principles and software (e.g. JDA, Prospace, Spaceman, etc.)
  • Minimum 5 years retail experience. Walmart experience is an asset.
