About MetaOptima:Join MetaOptima to make a difference in the lives of millions as we revolutionize the dermatology industry with software, hardware and AI for faster, more effective, and affordable care. MetaOptima is full of passionate, innovative people who thrive on working together as a team to build smart, life-saving technologies for medical professionals and their patients. Our casual, open-office culture welcomes fresh ideas from the minds of doers. Join us to add your voice to our vision while working with a cool group of people set on making their mark on the world. We take pride in what we've accomplished together, and can't wait to see how you'll help us grow.
Job Summary:We're hiring a 3D Vision Engineer focused on meshing, registration, and reconstruction. You'll design and ship pipelines that turn multi-view images into clean, metrically accurate, watertight surfaces suitable for clinical measurements and longitudinal comparisons.
You will work on making meshes better: aligning, repairing, stabilizing scale, removing noise, preserving detail, and making outputs fast to compute and easy to analyze.
ResponsibilitiesReconstruction & Meshing
Build and refine multi-view reconstruction pipelines (e.g., photogrammetry, photogrammetry + Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) / Gaussian Splatting).
- Generate watertight meshes with high fidelity while controlling triangle count and preserving metric scale.
- Implement hole filling, denoising, decimation, and feature-aware smoothing without erasing clinically relevant detail.
- Achieve high-quality, color-consistent textures from multi-view capture using both classical pipelines and modern differentiable techniques while handling skin-specific challenges and preserving clinically relevant detail.
Registration & Canonicalization
Develop rigid and non-rigid registration (e.g., Iterative Closest Point (ICP) and variants) to align scans across time and to canonical templates.
- Stabilize scale and reduce drift; enforce consistent coordinate systems for longitudinal follow-up.
- Explore template fitting to normalize shape, improve correspondence, and enable per-vertex analytics.
Geometry Processing
Topology-safe remeshing; self-intersection fixes; normal and UV cleanup; manifold checks.
- Constraint-driven deformation (e.g., As-Rigid-As-Possible (ARAP) energies) for small corrective edits while preserving local shape.
Calibration & Quality
Improve camera calibration robustness, pose refinement, and color consistency for multi-device rigs.
- Establish quantitative metrics for metric accuracy, completeness, sharpness, and repeatability under real clinic conditions.
Productization
Package your methods into reliable, well-tested components that run on macOS/iOS capture stations and cloud services with predictable runtimes.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Swift or C++ and solid software engineering habits (testing, profiling, version control).
- Hands-on experience with 3D reconstruction or registration (e.g., multi-view stereo, structure-from-motion, ICP).
- Practical knowledge of mesh processing: decimation, smoothing, hole filling, normal/UV handling, manifold checks.
- Comfort defining and validating metric accuracy and repeatability on real data.
- Experience with template fitting, non-rigid registration, or correspondence finding on human-scale meshes.
- Familiarity with NeRF/Gaussian Splatting toolchains and mesh extraction from neural fields.
- GPU-accelerated implementations (Metal, CUDA, or Vulkan) and performance tuning.
- Exposure to clinical or regulated environments where reliability and traceability matter.
You'll play a pivotal role in advancing next-generation 3D imaging technology for dermatology, helping transform how skin is captured, reconstructed, and analyzed worldwide.
Join us to build the geometric and reconstruction foundation behind OptimaScan, delivering metrically accurate, clinically reliable 3D models that empower physicians to provide faster, more consistent, and more accessible care globally.
