Systems, Voice, and Network Specialist 

The Network, Voice and Routing Specialist is responsible for configuring, managing, and troubleshooting enterprise-level network infrastructure with a focus on voice gateways and Cisco-based routing and switching technologies. The engineer will implement advanced Quality of Service (QoS) and multicast solutions to ensure reliable and high-performance communication networks. This position plays a critical role in maintaining seamless connectivity, optimizing network performance, and documenting all technical procedures and configurations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Configure, manage, and optimize voice gateways to support reliable enterprise communication.Design, implement, and troubleshoot end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) and multicast solutions to improve data and voice performance across the network.Operate and maintain Cisco IOS-based routers from the ASR 1000, 3900, 3800, and 2800 series.Manage and troubleshoot Cisco IOS-based switches from the 6500, 4500, and 3750 families.Provide comprehensive technical documentation for network configurations, standard procedures, and troubleshooting workflows.Conduct regular network diagnostics and performance tuning to ensure uninterrupted operations.Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure smooth system integration and issue resolution.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Engineering, or a related field.Relevant certifications may be substituted in lieu of formal education.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience managing Cisco-based network infrastructures.Demonstrated experience with voice gateway configuration and support.Proven expertise in implementing QoS and multicast technologies in complex networks.Strong experience with Cisco IOS on routers and switches across multiple platforms.Experience with network documentation and operational procedures.

Deep understanding of voice networking, QoS, and multicast protocols.Advanced skills in network troubleshooting and problem resolution.Strong working knowledge of Cisco IOS environments.Excellent technical writing and documentation abilities.Strong analytical thinking and collaborative problem-solving skills.Effective verbal and written communication abilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 Periodic travel to operational sites and regional facilities.

SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent is preferred.Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is required.CompTIA Security+ or CISSP (required for IAT Level II compliance underDoD Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and Cisco Voice Gateway protocols (H.323, SIP, MGCP).Proficiency with network management and monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).Familiarity with DoD STIGs and cybersecurity best practices.Experience with Layer 2/3 switching and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).Experience with virtualization technologies including VMware or Hyper-V is preferred.Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider.

A Top Secret clearance is required for this position, higher is preferred.
