Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Truck Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating commercial trucks to transport freight across various routes. This role requires a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and professionalism, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the highest standards of vehicle operation and cargo handling. Experience with heavy equipment operation and automotive repair is a plus, contributing to the smooth functioning of our fleet.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks to transport freight to designated locations, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as necessary, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, checking for mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, mileage logs, and freight manifests.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and warehouse personnel regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during transit.
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when required to ensure vehicle reliability.
- Assist with warehouse operations including freight sorting, staging, and inventory management as needed.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Experience in commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, or related fields preferred.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics for troubleshooting vehicle issues on the road.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and cargo handling.
- Ability to work independently while following safety protocols diligently.
- Physical capability to lift heavy loads and perform manual tasks associated with freight handling.
