Role Summary
The Software Development Engineer – Applications (L4 Level) will own
complex technical issues
, lead in-depth root cause analysis, and drive
continuous improvement
across retail applications. This role involves providing advanced support, leading releases, mentoring junior engineers, and working closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure system stability, performance, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle
L3/L4 escalations
from L2 teams and provide advanced troubleshooting. - Lead
root cause analysis (RCA)
and implement long-term corrective actions. - Coordinate with
vendors and internal teams
for fixes, patches, and upgrades. - Lead
release management
for major updates, enhancements, and deployments. - Perform
impact analysis
for proposed changes and new integrations. - Implement
performance tuning, optimization, and preventive maintenance
. - Mentor and guide
L2 engineers
; review and approve technical solutions. - Drive
automation
for recurring operational tasks and monitoring. - Ensure compliance with
security, architectural, and operational standards
. - Support and enhance Oracle Retail applications, including:
- Xstore POS
customization and integrations - XOCS
configuration and deployment - SIOCS
workflows and integrations - MFCS
merchandising operations and API integrations - Contribute to
architecture, security, and operational design
decisions.
Mandatory Skills
- Strong understanding of
retail systems
(POS, inventory, merchandising). - Proficiency in
SQL
and
Python
. - Experience with
API troubleshooting
(REST-based services).
Required Technical Skills
- Deep knowledge of
POS systems
and
Oracle Retail applications
. - Strong experience with
SQL and PL/SQL
. - Experience with
middleware and integration technologies
. - Ability to analyze
application logs
, debug code, and optimize performance. - Solid understanding of
application architecture and system integrations
.
Soft Skills & Leadership
- Strong
stakeholder management
and communication skills. - Proven ability to lead technical discussions and decision-making.
- Mentoring mindset with experience guiding junior engineers.
- Ability to work in high-pressure production environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in
Computer Science
or a related field. - 5+ years
of experience in application support and development. - Experience with
ITIL
processes and
DevOps practices
