Job Summary

The Director of Construction is responsible for overseeing all construction operations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. This role provides strategic leadership, manages project teams and contractors, and collaborates with executives, clients, and stakeholders to support organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all construction projects from planning, execution through completion
  • Review and manage contracts and budgets to check how builds are progressing against the expected timeline and costs
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
  • Oversee construction sites to ensure a safe work environment
  • Manage relationships with contractors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers
  • Review contracts, change orders, and cost estimates
  • Monitor project performance, quality control, and productivity
  • Resolve construction issues, delays, or conflicts efficiently
  • Provide regular progress reports to executive leadership, including timelines and budget updates
  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate construction managers, project managers and project teams
  • Implement best practices, systems, and process improvements across projects

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (Master's preferred)
  • 8–12+ years of progressive experience in data center construction management
  • Proven leadership experience managing large-scale or multiple projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations
  • Excellent budgeting, scheduling, and contract management skills
  • Proficiency in construction management software and project tracking tools
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications (PMP, CCM, PE, or similar)
  • Experience with design-build or integrated project delivery
  • Strong strategic planning and organizational leadership skills

Work Environment

  • Full-time position
  • Office setting and active construction site environments
  • Travel to project sites as required
  • Handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Standard business hours with additional work under tight deadlines
  • May require extended hours to meet project deadlines
