Our Fort Hills site is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Welders to become an integral part of our workforce. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out all scheduled and emergency welding repairs, as needed for Komatsu haul trucks, Caterpillar auxiliary equipment, shovels and various other machinery.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Five years of post-apprenticeship experience maintaining mining heavy equipment
  • A Valid Alberta Journeyman Welder Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Welder Certificate
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Expert knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures are essential
  • Knowledge of SMAW, OAC, MIG, FCAW and PAC and heat treatment processes
  • Proven problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills and validated ability to multitask in a dynamic environment
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • A Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certification

Responsibilities:

  • Execute all planned and break in welding repairs, build-up for line-boring and fabrication, as required
  • Remove and replace major components (engines, transmissions, wheel motors, etc.)
  • Operate company-provided equipment and vehicles in a safe manner
  • Clean and prepare base metals using bevellers, grinders, air nibblers, and cleaning chemicals
  • Evaluate maintenance procedures, and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability to setup and production

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Fort Hills site in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • The shift schedule is a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation (12-hour shifts)
  • You will be on a Fly-In-Fly-Out Rotation from one of the approved hubs of Edmonton or Calgary or a Bus-In-Bus-Out of Fort McMurray
