Position Overview

Joshua House Recovery Ministries is seeking a Community & Engagement Coordinator—a part-time, entry-level role for a capable, creative, and relational person who wants to grow in fundraising, communications, and community-building work.

This role sits at the intersection of events, volunteers, donors, and storytelling. You'll help coordinate our public-facing efforts, support fundraising initiatives, and ensure people who engage with Joshua House—whether as donors, volunteers, or partners—feel welcomed, informed, and valued.

This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who is organized, people-oriented, and eager to learn how meaningful nonprofit work actually happens.

Key Responsibilities

Events & Volunteer Coordination

• Support planning and execution of fundraising and community events (Gala, Golf Tournament, Coldest Night of the Year, Airshow, etc.)

• Recruit, schedule, and communicate with volunteer teams

• Prepare event materials, timelines, and follow-up communications

• Help ensure events feel organized, welcoming, and aligned with Joshua House's mission

Fundraising & Donor Engagement Support

• Assist with direct mail campaigns (coordination, design support, timelines, fulfillment)

• Support donor thank-you processes and positive donor communication

• Help track engagement activities in coordination with office systems using platforms like DonorPerfect and Microsoft Suite.

• Contribute to creating a culture of gratitude and follow-up

Communications & Social Media

• Assist with social media posting and content coordination

• Support basic design and content development (using tools like Canva and Constant Contact)

• Help maintain consistency in tone, messaging, and visual identity

• Gather stories and moments from events, volunteers, and community life

General Office & Team Support

• Work closely with the Executive Director and office team on communications and fundraising initiatives

• Support administrative tasks related to engagement and outreach

• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas

integrity than a perfect résumé.

Skills & Experience (Flexible)

• Experience with events, volunteering, communications, or fundraising is an asset

• Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)

• Comfort using basic design tools (or willingness to learn)

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Alignment with Joshua House's mission and values

Role Details

• Half-time position (hours flexible; some evenings/weekends for events)

• Based in the Joshua House office (with some flexibility depending on tasks)
