operator, building systems that handle huge traffic spikes, real-time odds updates, and millions of transactions with zero room for error. They are looking for a
Senior Backend Developer

The Opportunity

As
Senior Backend Developer
, you will help architect, build, and optimise the services that power sportsbook, casino, wallets, payments, player accounts, and more.

You will be deeply involved in technical decisions, service design, and performance strategy – not just taking tickets off a backlog. You will work closely with other senior engineers, product, DevOps, and data to continuously push the platform forward.

What You Will Do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that power core betting, gaming, and player account features.
• Develop
  low-latency, highly available, fault-tolerant
  systems that can handle intense load around big matches and events.
• Contribute to and shape a
  microservices architecture
  , ensuring clear boundaries, scalability, observability, and resilience.
• Integrate with third-party systems (payments, KYC, fraud/risk, trading feeds, content providers) and ensure integrations are stable and secure.
• Collaborate with Product and Frontend/Mobile teams to refine requirements and translate them into robust backend solutions.
• Write clean, well-structured, and well-tested code; participate actively in design reviews and code reviews.
• Implement strong observability (logging, metrics, tracing) to keep services healthy and make debugging fast and data-driven.
• Drive performance optimisation and capacity planning across services and data stores.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices, working closely with DevOps to streamline releases.
• Mentor and support mid-level and junior engineers, helping to raise the overall engineering bar.

Tech Environment

You do not need to know everything on this list, but you must bring solid experience in a modern backend stack and be comfortable working across:

• Languages:
  Java, Kotlin, Go, C#, or (TypeScript)
• Architecture:
  Microservices, RESTful APIs, event-driven systems
• Data:
  PostgreSQL / MySQL or similar, plus caching layers (Redis, Memcached)
• Messaging / Streaming:
  Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other event streaming/message brokers
• Cloud & DevOps:
  AWS, GCP, or Azure; Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools
• Practices:
  TDD/BDD, automated testing, code reviews, continuous delivery, Git-based workflows

Experience with high-availability, distributed systems in production is more important than ticking every box.

What you will bring:

• Significant experience as a Backend / Server-Side Engineer, with several years operating at
  Senior
  level.
• Proven track record building and running
  high-volume, mission-critical systems
  in production (payments, trading, iGaming, fintech, etc.).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, performance tuning, and fault-tolerant design.
• Ability to design clear service boundaries, stable APIs, and scalable data models.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting – and using that data to drive improvements.
• Comfortable working in an
  agile, product-led environment
  with evolving priorities and fast feedback loops.
• Clear, direct communicator who can explain technical decisions and trade-offs to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in
  iGaming, sports betting, online gaming, payments, or other high-transaction / regulated environments
  is a strong advantage.
