Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated First Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, menu planning, and kitchen operations, with experience in fine dining and food safety standards. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a high-quality dining experience by preparing and presenting delicious meals in a professional environment. The First Cook will play a vital role in ensuring the consistency, quality, and safety of all food served.

Duties

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
  • Assist in menu planning and develop new culinary ideas to enhance the dining experience
  • Ensure all food handling and preparation adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients
  • Oversee food portioning, plating, and presentation to meet quality standards
  • Collaborate with dietary department staff to accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions
  • Manage inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and minimize waste
  • Train junior kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, knife skills, and safety procedures
  • Support catering events and special functions as required

Experience

  • Proven experience in food preparation within a restaurant or catering environment
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, including knife skills and meal preparation
  • Experience with menu planning, food presentation, and food industry standards
  • Background in dietary aide work or dietary department experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with fine dining service, food handling, and food safety protocols
  • Previous roles involving cooking, food service, or kitchen operations in a hospitality setting are preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
