Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Affinity Full time

Job Description:

Are you an instructional designer who craves a strategic challenge and a national scope? Do you believe that targeted, well-designed training is the key to unlocking business process excellence and driving user adoption of critical applications?

On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking an Instructional Designer who will report to the Manager, Enterprise Training Solutions. The Enterprise Training Solutions team is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to act as a key driver of learning and performance across the organization. In this role, you will be more than a content developer; you will be a performance consultant and an architect of impactful learning solutions. You will partner with business leaders and subject matter experts to analyze complex processes, diagnose performance gaps, and design innovative training that is engaging, effective, and scalable. If you are passionate about using modern learning methodologies to solve real-world business challenges, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Consulting & Strategic Analysis:

  • Partner with business process owners and key stakeholders to conduct in-depth needs analyses, diagnosing the root causes of performance gaps related to business processes and applications.
  • Act as a trusted internal consultant, guiding stakeholders toward the most effective learning solutions, which may include eLearning, virtual instructor-led training (VILT), performance support tools, blended learning, or process documentation.

Innovative Design & Compelling Content Creation:

  • Architect and design end-to-end learning journeys that enhance user proficiency and support data integrity, governance, and internal control efforts.
  • Craft a variety of engaging learning assets, including interactive eLearning modules, application simulations, instructional videos, and comprehensive business process guides.
  • Write exceptionally clear, concise, and compelling instructional content, storyboards, scripts, and support documentation tailored to a diverse audience.

Agile Development & Delivery:

  • Develop high-quality, polished learning solutions using your expert-level proficiency with modern authoring tools.
  • Participate in the testing and implementation of new business process initiatives and system improvements, ensuring training is aligned and effective.

Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement:

  • Build and maintain outstanding relationships across the organization, acting as a champion for knowledge sharing and the adoption of best practices.
  • Own the full project lifecycle for training initiatives, from initial scoping and project planning to development, review, and deployment.
  • Manage the upkeep of all training materials and support documentation within our Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring content is current, relevant, and easily accessible.

Experience and Qualifications

Required:

  • Demonstrated experience as a performance consultant, with a proven ability to engage with business leaders, diagnose needs, and recommend strategic solutions.
  • Exceptional content writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging, and effective learning materials.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to own multiple complex projects simultaneously from inception to completion.
  • Excellent client service, verbal/written communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

Preferred:

  • A strong portfolio that showcase a variety of sophisticated learning solutions you have designed and developed, demonstrating your instructional design methodology and technical skills.
  • Experience creating training for change management and technology adoption initiatives.
  • Experience in the real estate industry.
  • Knowledge of a major ERP system (Yardi experience is an asset).
  • Previous exposure to the administration of a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • A strong understanding of adult learning principles and modern learning science.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to derive insights from data.

Top Skills Necessary

  • 3 - 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate instructional design, with a focus on business process or technology systems training.
  • 3+ years of experience utilizing eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360 Suite, Adobe Captivate).
  • Have completed at least 1 project that involved a digital transformation, enterprise system implementation or project that eliminated manual processes in favor of automated processes.
  • Have developed hybrid or interactive training material versus solely instructor led training (ILT) content.
