Due to ever expanding operational requirements, we have an immediate opening for an onshore fulltime Lifting Technician, working at our Mount Pearl, Newfoundland office, reporting to the Technical Field Supervisor.

The successful candidate will support ongoing inspection related duties on various types of lifting and hoisting relating equipment (hoists, cranes, loose lifting gear, fixed lifting points, and protection systems and equipment).

Responsibilities

  • · Conduct inspections in accordance with the requirements of CAPP - Atlantic

Canada Safe Lifting Practice, ASME, DNV, LR, and owner specific requirements.

· Assess the integrity and safety of equipment and make sound judgment with regards to the suitability of the equipment and its intended use.

· Produce detailed reports for inspections, clearly identifying the scope of the inspection, and any defects or anomalies found.

· Ensure that all findings are brought to the attention of the appropriate personnel, and when required, communicate findings to client at the field location.

· Maintain inspection equipment in good condition, ensuring equipment that requires routine re-calibration or testing is kept up to date.

· Keep up to date with changes in relevant standards and legislation, acting as an advisor to onsite

client representatives.

· Ensure the health, safety and welfare of all personnel by using systems and methods of work that are, as far as is reasonably practicable, safe and without risk to health or the environment.

Requirements

· Inspector must possess in depth knowledge of inspection practices and certification process.

· Candidates must have 2 - 5 years practical experience (continuous learning) in lifting inspection, testing, and re-certification of cranes, fixed gear, and loose lifting equipment.

· Completion of either a 2 or 3 year Industrial or Mechanical Diploma would be an asset.

· Preference will be given to Candidates holding Lifting Equipment Engineers association (LEEA) certifications.

· ISO 9712 NDT certification in MT2 & PT2, and CWB Level 1 or 2 Certification would be desirable.

· Working knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).

· Comfortably navigate relevant regulatory codes and standards

· Proficient in report writing, inspection techniques, and methodologies applicable to your current level of certification.

· Proficient in reading and interpreting P&ID's, isometric and structural drawings.

· Willingness to travel occasionally and to work flexible hours.

· Awareness of and appreciation for the process of continuous improvement.

· Strong interpersonal skills, ability to recognize and resolve conflict.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.27-$39.71 per hour
