We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient GIS Analyst to support our telecommunications infrastructure planning and network operations. The successful candidate will leverage Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to create, maintain, and analyze spatial data critical to fiber, wireless, and broadband network planning, deployment, and maintenance.

General Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain spatial datasets related to telecom infrastructure (fiber routes, cell towers, conduit paths, etc.).
  • Perform spatial analysis to support network design, site selection, coverage mapping, and capacity planning.
  • Generate high-quality maps, dashboards, and visualizations to support engineering, sales, and field operations teams.
  • Assist in integrating GIS data with other enterprise systems such as asset management, CRM, and network monitoring tools.
  • Conduct field data collection and verification using GPS-enabled devices or mobile GIS applications.
  • Perform quality control on spatial data, ensuring accuracy and completeness in accordance with industry standards.
  • Support permitting processes by preparing GIS-based documentation and addressing regulatory spatial data requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network engineers, planners, and construction teams.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in GIS analysis, preferably within the telecom or utility sector.
  • Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS (Desktop, Pro, Online), QGIS, or similar GIS software.
  • Familiarity with telecom network elements such as fiber, coaxial, microwave links, and cell site infrastructure.
  • Experience with spatial databases (PostGIS, SQL Server, etc.) and scripting tools (Python, ModelBuilder).
  • Strong understanding of coordinate systems, geoprocessing, and map design principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience with telecom-specific platforms such as AutoCAD Map 3D, Smallworld, 3-GIS, or GE Fiber Management.
  • Knowledge of FTTx design, network topology, and as-built documentation.
  • Understanding of mobile and fixed wireless coverage mapping and RF planning.
  • Familiarity with tools like ArcGIS Enterprise, FME, and cloud-based GIS solutions.

Work Conditions

  • Ideally located in southern Manitoba or southeastern Saskatchewan, this is a hybrid role, with some occasional field visits as needed.
  • May require flexible hours to meet project deadlines or respond to urgent network issues.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Overtime as required.
