Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our busy dental practice on a fixed 12-month contract to cover a maternity leave. The position will begin on December 19, with scheduled working days on Wednesdays and Fridays. The successful candidate will play an essential role in supporting our dental team and ensuring each patient has a positive and comfortable experience. This role requires strong clinical abilities combined with excellent communication skills, as you will assist with dental procedures, interact with patients, and help maintain a clean, efficient, and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during examinations and procedures by preparing and providing required instruments and materials.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are stocked and ready.
  • Take dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and provide post-treatment instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using dental software such as Oryx.
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards within the dental practice.

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred; however, applicants with relevant training may also be considered.
  • Experience with dental software systems such as Oryx is an asset.
  • Knowledge of dental and medical terminology is beneficial.
  • Experience in pediatrics or orthodontics is an advantage but not required.
  • CAD (Computer-Aided Design) skills may be helpful for specific procedures.
  • Strong communication skills to support effective interaction with patients and team members.

Licence/Certification

  • Certified Dental Assistant – Level One (required)
  • HARP Certificate (required)
  • First Aid and CPR certificate ( required)
