Position: Vocational Trainer

Job Type: Casual on-Call

Availability Required:

Monday-Friday:

08:00-15:30

09:00-15:00

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advocate for the meaningful inclusion and active participation of individuals within their community.
  • Support individuals in locating and accessing community resources that meet their unique and evolving needs.
  • Act as a positive role model for community members, co-workers, and those you support.
  • Implement Person-Centred Care Plans which focus on the development of essential life skills and confidence building.
  • Facilitate the involvement of family members and friends in the lives of the individuals you support
  • Complete office administration, documentation, report writing, record keeping, and accountability of funds.
  • Perform other duties as requested

Other Requirements

  • Criminal Record Check..
  • Valid First Aid & CPR Certification.
  • Medical Approval.
  • Tuberculosis Clearance.
  • Satisfactory Reference Checks.
  • Food Safe Certification Level 1
  • Other requirements as detailed in IDS policies

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Certification in Health Care Aide/Health Care Worker Program or related field (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
  • Minimum of six months of relevant experience in a similar environment

Job Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal/non-verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in English (receptive and expressive)
  • Demonstrated ability to teach skills and work effectively with others
  • Ability to function effectively under pressure and be able to multitask
  • Highly versed in the de-escalation of challenging behaviors
  • Training and/or experience in augmentative communication
