ROLE: Warehouse Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Production Manager

LOCATION: Annacis Plant

SHIFT: Late mornings into early evening, approximately 11am – 830pm M-F

We are seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to join our growing team Reporting to the Production Manager and working with Supply and Strategic Sourcing, you will oversee a team of hourly employees per shift in a fast-paced, high-volume warehouse environment. You will be responsible for meeting operational targets, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance, and driving accountability and performance within the team. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills to support the company's continued growth and efficiency.

Knowledge & skills

  • You have advanced knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory management systems (IMS), dock-truck planners, and ERP systems.

  • You are experienced in managing relationships with 3PL partners (trucking & warehousing) and co-pack customers.

  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other relevant software.

  • You have good working knowledge of and can ensure compliance with EHS, quality, and regulatory requirements, including OH&S, GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.

  • You have experience in inventory control, cycle counting, and demand forecasting to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce waste.

  • You are skilled in warehouse layout optimization and material flow management to improve efficiency and reduce handling time.

  • You have expertise in load planning, shipping/receiving operations, and transportation coordination to meet delivery timelines.

  • You are knowledgeable in lean warehousing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to drive efficiency and cost savings.

  • You have experience implementing and maintaining 5S workplace organization and best practices in a warehouse environment.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in warehouse supervision, logistics, or cold supply chain management.

  • Experience managing a unionized facility, ensuring compliance with collective agreements and labor relations best practices.

  • Strong knowledge of FEFO (First-expire, First-Out) inventory management and CFIA regulatory requirements.

  • Hands-on experience with ERP and WMS systems, with the ability to support beyond-the-door supply chain operations.

  • Proficient in cycle counting, month-end inventory reconciliation, and year-end auditing to ensure inventory accuracy and financial reporting integrity.

  • Experience in temperature-controlled warehousing and perishable goods handling to maintain product integrity and compliance.

  • Familiarity with transportation and logistics coordination, including carrier management and dock scheduling.

  • Proven ability to optimize warehouse processes, improve space utilization, and reduce waste through continuous improvement initiatives.

Nice-to-Have 

  • Warehousing experience in a food manufacturing facility, preferably Beverage

things you will do… 

  • Collaborate across departments to align warehouse operations with customer requirements and financial goals.

  • Manage staff scheduling, work assignments, and labor planning to ensure efficient warehouse operations.

  • Evaluate employee performance, providing constructive feedback and coaching to drive continuous improvement.

  • Oversee financial performance, ensuring department activities meet budget goals and cost efficiency targets.

  • Optimize warehouse, and cooler spaces, ensuring FEFO compliance for inventory accuracy and product integrity.

  • Implement and enforce cycle counting procedures to maintain inventory accuracy and control.

  • Work closely with EHS & Quality teams to ensure operations meet or exceed safety, environmental, and quality standards.

  • Manage shipping and receiving operations, ensuring on-time fulfillment and accurate documentation.

  • Coordinate with Shipping Clerks to identify and address operational gaps, troubleshoot issues, and improve workflow efficiency.

  • Communicate with the Supply Chain team, collaborating with the Production Supervisor and/or Director of Manufacturing.

  • Monitor and improve warehouse efficiency, identifying areas for process improvement, waste reduction, and enhanced productivity.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including OH&S, CFIA, and GMP best practices.

  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, driving lean warehousing principles and operational excellence.

Detailed Description of Duties:

  • Hands-on leadership role, working closely with direct reports to oversee, support, and optimize daily warehouse operations.

  • Manage and develop hourly employees, including scheduling, task assignments, performance management, coaching, and professional development.

  • Escalate daily shorts to supply chain team that will ensure clear communication between warehouse and customers on their orders .

  • Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a team-first culture and ensuring engagement, accountability, and collaboration.

  • Coordinate with multiple departments to align warehouse operations with customer requirements, production schedules, and financial targets.

  • Ensure financial accountability, tracking and reviewing departmental budgets, cost control measures, and resource optimization.

  • Proactively manage warehouse training compliance by ensuring all employees are trained on warehouse SOPs, forklift operation, and that all forklift certifications are current and documented.

  • Optimize warehouse, and cooler storage, ensuring efficient space utilization and FEFO (First-Expire, First-Out) compliance.

  • Implement and oversee cycle count procedures, ensuring inventory accuracy, control, and reconciliation of discrepancies.

  • Partner with the People & Culture team to address staffing needs, team development, and conflict resolution through problem-solving approaches.

  • Enforce company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to EHS, food safety, and quality standards.

  • Promote a strong safety culture, facilitating safe work practices, hazard identification, and proactive risk management.

  • Leverage technology and data tools, using MS Office, WMS, ERP, and reporting systems to track performance and drive informed decision-making.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, waste reduction, and process optimization.
