The Opportunity:We are currently seeking an experiencedSenior Mining Engineer Consultant, who brings strong technical, people, management and Client relationship skills to join our Client's Firm. This is a full time permanent opportunity located in Sudbury, Ontario.Our Client is a Global mining consulting firm established 17 years ago and isexpanding into Canada. Some of the services include but are not limited to geological modelling and interpretation, mining engineering, metallurgical engineering, industrial engineering, project & risk management as well as project andoperational support.This is an excellent opportunity for a driven professional to take on a leadership role, contribute to the growth of the company, and potentially become an equity partner in the future.Responsibilities:Technical Duties & Responsibilities include:60%-70% time allocation (~ hours per month)Performing technical mining engineering tasks and outputs on an expert levelPeriodic travel to client sites to perform project workSourcing geological information and converting it into mining modelsStrategic mine design, scheduling, and reporting in various project phasesMining-related inputs for financial modellingPit/stope optimizationBuilding service offering toolkits and competencyEquipment studiesLead and own projects + multiple project involvementOperating cost modelsTechnical report and CPR compilationTrade-off studies / Options analysisCut-off grade analysisDue Diligence studies and technical auditsManagement, Client relationship/ Business Development Responsibilities30%-40% time allocation (~ hours per month)Networking, business development and salesLine Management duties of in-country mining engineersProject management of North American projectsMining networking event attendance in local, provincial or national areas (e.g. PDAC, CIM networking event, Mining4Beer event)Ad-hoc site visits to potential clients to view their operationsCompiling of scopes of work for North American clients requiring Mining Engineering workClient management (via Projects) to ensure repeat business / winning more work and building high qualityTo grow our footprint and reach in North AmericaRequirements:Mining Engineering degree graduated from Canadian UniversityMore than 10 years of mining engineering experienceMandatory: relevant operations mining (>5 years) and mine planning/consulting experience (>5 years)Preferred: management experience; networking skills, Professional registrationBeneficial: having both Open Pit and Underground experience; Business Development / sales experience, proposal writing experienceAdditional Skills:Short-, medium-, and long-term mine planningPit / Stope optimisationOpen pit and underground mine designs and production schedulingExperience of various mining methodsKnowledge of the entire mining value chain for 3 to 5 commoditiesCompliance code exposure (JORC, NI and S-K 1300)Experience with delivering high quality project documentation (Preliminary Economic Assessments, Concept Study, Pre-Feasibility Study, Feasibility Study, Due Diligence, Competent Persons Reports, Mine Permitting Applications)To fully utilize available mining engineering specialist software packages (i.e. Deswik (preferable), GEOVIA Surpac, GEOVIA MineSched)Project reporting and presentationsOur Client is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce.
