About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced
Senior Software Developer
to design, implement, and maintain robust data pipelines and warehouse solutions. The role involves developing ETL processes using modern Microsoft technologies and ensuring high data quality, scalability, and maintainability throughout the software development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in
Azure Data Factory

Azure SQL Database

Azure Data Lake

Power BI
, as well as a deep understanding of data architecture, ETL design, and integration best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and continuously expand data pipelines by performing extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) activities.

• Translate technical system specifications into working, tested applications.

• Develop detailed programming specifications, write/generate code, compile data-driven programs, and perform unit testing.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems during software implementation and migration.

• Design, develop, and maintain database back-end and ETL applications for data warehouse and business intelligence (BI) solutions.

• Use ETL development techniques to enhance application functionality while maintaining scalability and standards.

• Conduct testing, debugging, and documentation of ETL applications.

• Collaborate with other developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

• Provide technical assistance during implementation and conversion processes.

• Prepare detailed documentation for reference, including data mappings and architecture artifacts.

General Skills:

• Strong programming and analytical background, with experience supporting specialized software packages.

• Proven ability to collaborate across teams through the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

• Experience using structured methodologies for application development, design, and maintenance.

• Proficiency in coding, testing, debugging, and documenting software.

• Experience using object-oriented or third-generation language development tools.

• Familiarity with relational and hierarchical database technologies.

• Strong understanding of data retrieval packages and query languages.

• Experience with structured methodologies for application lifecycle management.

• Proven ability to elicit and document information from diverse stakeholders and SMEs.

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience programming Internet-ready applications.

• Familiarity with Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodologies.

• Understanding of Information Management principles and best practices.

• Experience with middleware and gateways.

• Proficiency in reviewing, analyzing, and modifying product installation scripts.

• Experience providing post-implementation technical support.

• Ability to conduct design walkthrough sessions and document results.

• Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards and regulations.

• Ability to create and maintain user/system documentation.
