About Us
At Artemis Huron, previously Huron Women's Shelter, we use a gender-based analysis (GBA+), trauma and violence informed framework to deliver prevention, education, crisis support and healing programs to women and their families who have been impacted by gender-based violence (GBV) in rural Huron County. Our services include a 24-hour helpline and emergency shelter, Second Stage Program, risk assessment and safety planning, advocacy, system
navigation, individual and group healing opportunities, and community development.
We are seeking a Residential Supervisor to join our team. This is a full time, ongoing position at 35 hours per week.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Manager of Programs and working closely with the Women and Family Service Advocates (WFSA) team and the Second Stage Program (SSP) team, the Residential Supervisor is accountable for effectively supporting the team to ensure quality, client centred service in our residential programs.
The Residential Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the residential programs, ensuring quality service delivery and effective crisis response, onboarding, training and development of the direct service team, and program administration.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Oversight of Emergency Shelter and Second Stage Programs including staff supervision, learning and development, program implementation and first-level escalation crisis response.
- Oversee administrative functions within residential programs, including scheduling, HR support, program documentation and record keeping.
- Supports with team training and development through orientation of new hires, makes training recommendations to Program Manager and provides support and coaching to team members as needed.
- Collaborates and attends internal and external meetings and committees as required.

Location
The Residential Supervisor typically works in an office environment; however, the position will require working in non-standard workplaces when supporting staff, women and their families within our Emergency Shelter and Second Stage Program facilities.
Hours
The hours for this position are full-time at 35 hours a week. The successful candidate will be required to work a variable of day, evening and weekend hours to support organizational needs.

- Strong team leadership and supervisory skills
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Strong conflict resolution skills with the ability to navigate complex and difficult conversations with clients
- Strong GBV risk assessment and safety planning skills
- Strong crisis intervention skills
- Demonstrates strong gender based plus analysis and trauma and violence informed approaches
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Proficiency in the use of computer office technology and applications
- Valid driver's license
- Access to a reliable vehicle and proof of adequate insurance
- Clean driver's abstract
- Clear current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team with minimal supervision
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Social Work, Women's Studies, or equivalent Social Service Worker Diploma with an equivalent post-secondary education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years direct service work in the GBV sector, preferably in a residential setting.
- Fluency in other languages an asset.
