As our operations continue to grow, we are seeking skilled Heavy Equipment Operators to join our field and production teams. We have multiple openings for operators of skid steers, excavators, and 926M loaders supporting both landscaping projects and our on-site topsoil screening facility.
Position Overview
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned machinery, supporting both field landscaping projects and material handling at our topsoil screening plant. This is a hands-on role requiring attention to detail, mechanical awareness, and collaboration with crews to maintain productivity and high-quality results.
Operators may work on residential or commercial sites, at the screening facility, or both, depending on the day's schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate assigned heavy equipment, including:
- Skid steers (Bobcat T86/T76) for grading, material placement, and site preparation
- Excavators (up to 18-ton) for digging, material handling, and stockpile management
- 926M Loaders for feeding and moving soil
- Perform accurate grading, material placement, and site preparation for landscaping projects
- Load, sort, and organize screened and unscreened soil
- Conduct daily pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance checks on equipment
- Clean, fuel, lubricate, and monitor machinery to ensure optimal performance
- Work closely with ground crews and other operators to maintain workflow efficiency
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Report mechanical issues promptly and assist with troubleshooting as required
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members to ensure project success
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience operating skid steers, excavators, and/or loaders in landscaping, construction, or production environments
- Minimum 3 years' experience preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to perform basic equipment troubleshooting
- Experience with grading, material placement, and site preparation
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a crew
- Physically fit and able to perform demanding manual tasks when required
- Strong awareness of job-site safety and equipment limitations
- Valid driver's license and relevant certifications for operating heavy machinery
- Personal transportation to report to the yard required
Equipment You Will Operate
- Bobcat T86 and T76 skid steers (new/minimal hours, top-end comfort package)
- 18-ton excavators
- 926M loader for soil screening and material handling
- Other modern heavy equipment as needed
Compensation & Schedule
