Key Duties and Responsibilities

(1) Participates in the organization, operation and promotion of recreation programs which includes assisting residents with activities such as outings, parties, exercises, crafts and entertainment.

(2) Teaching activities such as arts and crafts, sports, music, woodworking, cooking, gardening and exercises.

(3) Preparing for and carrying out activities such as bingo, crafts, games and sing-songs.

(4) Accompanies patients on outings and during social activities.

(5) Observes and reports any changes in a resident's functional and cognitive behaviour to the nurse on duty.

(6) Reports unsafe or faulty equipment to the designated supervisor.

(7) Monitors safety in the residents living environment and staff working environment.

(8) Reports risks, hazards, near misses, unsafe situations, incidents and accidents to Supervisor / Manager/ designate.

(9) Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience

Grade 12 plus graduation from a recognized Recreation Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

(i) Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

(ii) Ability to deal with others effectively.

(iii) Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

(iv) Ability to teach.

(v) Ability to organize work.

(vi) Ability to operate related equipment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $29.83 per hour

Expected hours: 33 per week
