Nature and Scope

Reporting to the Program Manager, this part time position is responsible for providing children with a safe and caring environment where they can learn and grow positively by participating in various recreational programs.

Responsibilities

⦁ To participate in all aspects of youth programs while you are working your shift.
⦁ To assist in planning and coordinating activities for the program you are leading that is appropriate to the age and skill level of the children in the programs.
⦁ To be responsible for the safety and security of all participants in your care at all times.
⦁ To maintain a positive attitude at all times
⦁ To act in a supportive and professional manner when working with fellow staff members and children.
⦁ To report to the Program Manager with any problems regarding participants and other staff members.
⦁ To maintain confidentiality and discretion with the YMCA programs regarding children, members, and staff for the course of employment duties.
⦁ To give active and loyal support to youth programs and its philosophy and objectives and abide by all youth program regulations.
⦁ Adhere to all YMCA Child Protection policies and procedures.

Qualifications

⦁ Standard First Aid & CPR
⦁ Clear Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record Check
⦁ WHIMIS & Child Protection Training
⦁ Aptitude for working with children or any related experience
⦁ Experience working with preschool, children, or youth
⦁ Background Courses in Education, Social Sciences, Early Childhood Education, or Recreation (preferred)
