About The Role
We are seeking a Senior Privacy Consultant to support the our Client in assessing privacy risks associated with new technologies, digital systems, and programs. The role ensures compliance with Ontario, federal, and private sector privacy legislation while identifying and mitigating privacy risks before solutions are implemented.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or support Privacy Impact Assessments for new programs, systems, or policies
  • Evaluate compliance with provincial, federal, municipal, and private sector privacy legislation
  • Identify privacy risks related to digital, cloud based, and integrated systems
  • Recommend mitigation strategies to ensure personal information is protected
  • Review data flows, system designs, and business processes to assess privacy impact
  • Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, legal advisors, and policy teams
  • Document findings, risks, and recommendations clearly for senior leadership
  • Support OPS privacy approval processes and stakeholder sign off

Privacy and Legislative Expertise

  • Strong experience with Ontario privacy legislation including FIPPA, MFIPPA, and PHIPA
  • Familiarity with federal PIPEDA and US PATRIOT Act
  • Experience conducting PIAs in public sector environments
  • Knowledge of Fair Information Practices and privacy enhancing best practices
  • Experience reviewing policies and legislation to ensure privacy compliance

Technical and Systems Understanding

  • Understanding of IT systems, digital platforms, cloud technologies, and integrations
  • Experience assessing privacy risks related to APIs, web applications, backend systems, and legacy integrations
  • Knowledge of data flows, information architecture, and system interfaces
  • Familiarity with security concepts such as encryption, access control, and data protection

Leadership And Communication Skills

  • Ability to lead or support PIA activities independently or within a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex privacy and technical issues in simple terms
  • Experience facilitating discovery sessions and stakeholder workshops
  • Strong organization and time management skills in fast paced environments

Nice to Have

  • Prior OPS or public sector experience
  • Professional certifications related to privacy, security, or IT
  • Experience delivering privacy education or training
  • Knowledge of digital identity frameworks
