With a presence in Montreal, Miami, Toronto, Vancouver, and Ottawa, IJW serves mid-market companies globally, leveraging its professionals' extensive experience in investment banking and business operations.

Role Description

As an Analyst, you will be expected to provide a broad range of analytical, research and presentation preparation support to all the professionals within the group. As part of the M&A group, you will gain exposure to working with individuals from various groups across the firm. A team approach to executing coverage and financing assignments is designed to provide progressive, on-the-job training.

**Physically on-site in Toronto, however, candidates will be required to relocate to Montreal for a 6-12 month training period. We expect qualified candidates to be able to start by January 2026.

Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis and Modeling

  • Build and maintain complex financial models to evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other transactions.
  • Perform discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company, precedent transaction, and other valuation analyses.
  • Analyze the financial and operational performance of target companies.

Industry and Market Research

  • Conduct in-depth research on industries, market trends, and potential acquisition targets.
  • Monitor economic and industry developments to provide insights on deal opportunities.
  • Gather and synthesize information from market reports, databases, and public filings.

Transaction Execution Support

  • Assist in the execution of M&A transactions, including preparing pitch books, deal memoranda, and other transaction-related documents.
  • Coordinate due diligence efforts by collecting and analyzing relevant data from target companies.
  • Support the drafting and negotiation of key deal documents, such as purchase agreements and term sheets.

Client Engagement and Communication

  • Prepare presentations, teasers, and information memorandums for client pitches and live transactions.
  • Collaborate with senior team members to address client needs and respond to inquiries.
  • Build relationships with client teams to support ongoing and future engagements.

Valuation and Strategic Recommendations

  • Provide insights on valuation and strategic fit for potential transactions.
  • Analyze potential synergies, risks, and integration opportunities for clients.
  • Develop actionable recommendations to maximize value for clients.

Team Collaboration and Support

  • Work closely with associates, vice presidents, and senior bankers to support client engagements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as legal, tax, and accounting advisors, to ensure seamless execution of deals.
  • Participate in team meetings and training to enhance technical skills and industry knowledge.

Administrative Tasks

  • Manage data rooms, including uploading and organizing transaction documents.
  • Prepare and track deal timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate internal and external communication to keep stakeholders informed.

Key Skills for the Role:

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling software.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Screening Criteria:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business or Economics, with a concentration in Finance, Accounting or similar.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in a related field (investment banking, private equity, venture capital, management consulting, etc.).
  • Professional designation/candidacy (MBA, CFA, CPA, CBV) is preferred and considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism in English and French considered an asset.
