This role is responsible for the technical health of the domain and ecosystem. The role may manage staffing and career development to achieve the right talent mix, maintain motivation, and support career growth. Staffing will be maintained according to the domain's needs, and the development of software engineers will be prioritized to ensure an engaging work environment.

The role may explore and connect technical solutions within the global network and local markets. The health and technical debt of the products within the domain will be monitored to ensure technical excellence. Collaboration with peers and compliance with standards and defined architectures will also be key responsibilities.

Coordinating and overseeing job-related activities and assignments involves developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs, and communicating goals and objectives. The role may build accountability and measure progress in achieving results, identify and address improvement opportunities, and promote continuous learning.

The role may also provide supervision and development opportunities for associates, including hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, and providing recognition. Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, supporting the company's mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity, and utilizing the Open Door Policy will also be essential aspects of this role.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of software engineers across frontend, backend, data engineering, cloud, mobile, and MLOps domains.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and high performance.
  • Provide regular coaching, feedback, and career development opportunities.

Engineering Excellence & Best Practices

  • Establish and promote engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes across all software development facets.
  • Drive adoption of DevOps principles, ensuring seamless CI/CD, automation, and operational excellence.
  • Champion the use of modern tools and frameworks to enhance productivity and speed to market.

Gen AI & Emerging Technologies

  • Advocate for the adoption and integration of Generative AI and other emerging technologies to solve business problems and drive innovation.
  • Evaluate, pilot, and scale Gen AI tools and platforms to improve engineering workflows and product capabilities.

Collaboration, Stakeholder Management & Standardization

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment on goals and initiatives.
  • Coordinate and oversee job-related activities and assignments, supporting plans to meet customer and business needs.
  • Communicate goals, objectives, and progress clearly to all relevant parties.
  • Build accountability and measure progress in achieving results, identifying and addressing improvement opportunities.
  • Lead efforts to standardize engineering processes and tools for the Canadian organization, leveraging global best practices.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Collaborate with product, architecture, and business stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and deliver on strategic objectives.
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.

Culture & Advocacy

  • Promote a DevOps and agile culture, encouraging experimentation, rapid iteration, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Serve as a role model for ethical engineering, diversity, and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications BS/MS degree in Computer Science or closely related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of software development experience in building scalable web and mobile applications ·
  • 1-2 years engineering team management experiences coaching, mentoring individuals to grow in their career.
  • Sound knowledge of JavaScript, JavaScript frameworks (React/Redux, EmberJS or Angular), CSS3, HTML5, , REST APIs, asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX in highly scalable and available applications
  • Thorough understanding of the agile software development processes with distributed development teams and proven experience in delivering complex projects on time with high quality.
  • Proven track record of delivering successfully within aggressive timelines.
  • Leader with the ability to mentor top notch engineers - review code, design, allocate resources and jump into the code as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with the business and technical leadership teams
  • Specialization Skills for multiple different positions:
  • Frontront Focus - Sound knowledge of JavaScript, JavaScript frameworks (React/Redux, EmberJS or Angular), CSS3, HTML5, , REST APIs, asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX in highly scalable and available applications
  • · Mobile Focus – React Native, Swift, Objective-C, Kotland, Java (Android)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams (frontend, backend, data, cloud, mobile, MLOps).
The pay range for this position is $91, $126, Pay will be determined based on relevant experience.
