Job DescriptionAs a Contaminated Sites Specialist at FLINT, you'll leverage 8+ years of experience in the upstream, mid-stream, and downstream oil and gas sectors, providing technical expertise on environmental assessments, compliance, and risk management.
** This role can be located anywhere in Western Canada **
What would you be doing?
- Design, evaluate and implement remediation and risk-management strategies, including evaluation against Alberta Tier 1 & Tier 2 assessments, remedial option analysis, and directive PNG045 assessments.
- Author, technically review and mentor on assessment and remediation reports, including Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments, supplemental environmental assessments, remedial action plans and remediation programs.
- Provide risk-based approaches for contaminated sites including recalculation of remediation guidelines, justification letters, and screening level and quantitative Environmental Risk Assessments.
- Collaborate with project teams, field employees, and senior advisors to scope projects, provide technical support, and communicate findings with clients and regulators.
- Provide direction and mentorship to report writers, drafters, and field employees while supporting site remediation using various remedial technologies.
- Ensure timely completion of claims, invoices, and documentation while adhering to business and regulatory requirements.

- University degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field, with current relevant professional designation (ex. P.Ag., P.Biol., P.Chem., P.Eng., or P.Geo.).
- 8+ years of relevant environmental consulting experience, including preparing ESAs, remediation and reclamation within the Alberta and/or Saskatchewan regulatory environment.
- Subsoil Salinity Tool (SST) certified; the use of other fate and transport models is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta Tier 1 and 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines, Saskatchewan Environmental Quality Guidelines, PNG045 Directive and supporting technical protocols.
- Experience working with multiple regulatory agencies in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and data interpretation skills, with the ability to prepare and review high-quality technical reports.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in deadline-driven environments, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a track record of building strong relationships and collaborating effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proactive problem-solving skills, initiative-taking, and a strong focus on health and safety.
Candidates shortlisted will be required to complete the Profile TRAITS Survey.
The purpose of the TRAITS Survey tool is to assist FLINT in understanding individuals' behaviours and supporting the best use of their strengths, abilities, and potential.
This position has been identified as a safety-sensitive position and will require completion of drug and alcohol testing.
