Position Summary

Heavy Duty Mechanics are responsible for ensuring that all IDL's equipment and specialty tools (such as: articulating rock trucks, backhoes, dozers, excavators, graders, loaders, generators etc.) are maintained and in good working condition. We are looking for skilled technicians who have the ability to work independently and as part of our great team. We currently have full-time and rotational positions available.

Location

IDL Project's head office is located in Prince George, British Columbia with satellite offices in Prince Rupert, Vancouver and Vancouver Island.  Out-of-town work is a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities

Diagnosis, repair and maintenance of the company's heavy equipment fleet and specialty tools including but not limited to:earth moving equipmentinternal combustion engines and components, mobile and stationaryground engaging equipmenttracked equipmentResponsible to ensure all work is completed in a safe mannerPerform work in either a field or shop settingMentor apprentices as neededMay perform other duties as required

Qualifications

A minimum of five (5) years' field experience andMinimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in heavy civil constructionHave a strong/technical and mechanical aptitudeCertified Heavy Duty Mechanic/Interprovincial Red Seal CertificationExperience working with CAT, Hitachi or John Deere heavy construction equipment. Preference is given to anyone who has experience working on all makesMust have a valid class 5 (or better ) driver's license with a clean driver's abstractMust be able to work under pressureMust be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policiesAbility to work cooperatively independently and with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment
