Job Overview

Repairs and maintains diesel and gasoline engine industrial trucks and medium duty machines. Available as an employee or sub-contractor position who can use the shop for your own work with ours as a priority. This position has variable hours with heavier hours in the spring and early summer but is a year-round position.

$30-45/hour depending on experience and abilities.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair including engines, transmissions, differentials, electrical, fuel, steering suspension and brake systems, hydraulic drive systems.
  • Performs minor and major repairs, servicing and up fitting on all types of vehicles and machines, (cars, light truck, medium/heavy trucks, truck trailers, medium and light duty machines)
  • Remove and repair Hydraulic machine parts.
  • Communicates with suppliers and/or management to obtain needed parts.
  • Uses electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, and other vehicle repair tools to perform repairs.
  • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Documents all work performed.
  • Road tests vehicles when required.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to management.
  • Ensures that vehicle is kept clean. Notifies service advisor/dispatcher immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all company-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, etc..
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Valid Driver's Licence

Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose problems.

Hydraulic Repair

Ability to work with alone and unsupervised.

Ability to lift 75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
