Who are we looking for:

We are looking for a Senior Manager to lead our streaming and TV news team in Calgary.

What you will do:

  • Provide editorial leadership, direction and feedback for local and regional CityNews teams in Calgary
  • Lead the transition to streaming first work model and our Alberta streaming channel
  • Elevate editorial and journalistic standards for the content team, especially when it comes to video storytelling
  • Collaborate with TV news team in Edmonton, radio news team in Calgary and 24/7 streaming teams across the country to deliver the most compelling content to our viewers to multiple platforms
  • Oversee and provide leadership for special event coverage. Lead special projects including capital activity, election coverage, town hall meetings, debates, and programs that are responsive to community issues
  • Lead market assessment initiatives in Calgary
  • Oversee allocation of resources to maximize value while minimizing costs and work with operations/production to ensure smooth technical execution
  • Work collaboratively with leaders to ensure Rogers TV policies and guidelines are followed and CRTC compliance targets are achieved
  • Promote a positive workplace culture based around our core values of Honesty, Integrity, and Transparency

What you will bring:

  • This is a leadership position. You must have experience managing a TV newsroom and people
  • You know news and understand multiplatform coverage
  • You have experience in leading major TV productions
  • You have experience in leading change and are willing to explore new ideas and approaches to content and production, especially when it comes to streaming
  • You know how to coach performance and can build a winning culture
  • You know how to communicate effectively, especially in high pressure situations
  • You know how to drive teamwork and know how to influence people without authority
  • You understand Calgary and Alberta and what makes both a dynamic part of Canada
