The Adult Community Services provides a wide range of addiction and mental health treatment within Edmonton and the surrounding areas. The ACS program provides quality, client focused, recovery based, concurrent capable, culturally appropriate care to those seeking supports/services. Services are offered to clients and their families in the least intrusive and most appropriate manner, and include assessment, individual and group treatment, and consultation. Interventions may be done in the clinic, community, or in a client's home, dependent on the identified needs. As a Clinical Supervisor, you will provide supervision for a multidisciplinary team, supporting clinicians to provide excellence in professional practice and enable quality, patient and family-centered care. This role involves supervision related to a range of assessment, mental health (psychosocial and psychological interventions), and other activities. You will be required to supervise regulated staff requiring supervision to meet the regulatory requirements for practice, and/or to unregulated staff providing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention. This may include observing clinical sessions, reviewing clinical documentation and written reports, conducting team case consultations and offering support, and providing guidance and direction to clinical staff with challenging and urgent cases in a timely manner. In your role, you may work with members of the interdisciplinary team, psychiatrists and community partners in support of effective professional and collaborative practice. You may contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health treatment services. You may provide support to leadership in the hiring, orientation, and performance evaluation of clinical staff.

Description:

As a Clinical Supervisor, you will provide clinical supervision for a discipline, practice area or service sector supporting clinicians to provide excellence in professional practice and enable quality, patient and family-centered care. In this clinical leadership role, you will provide clinical supervision to staff providing addiction and/or mental health services to individuals, families, and groups. This role involves supervision related to a range of assessment, mental health (psychosocial, and psychological interventions), and other activities. Supervision may be provided to regulated staff, those requiring supervision to meet regulatory requirements for practice, and/or to unregulated staff providing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention. You may also identify and address gaps in clinical practice as well as facilitate addressing of system level gaps and risk management issues. You may provide support to leadership in the hiring, orientation and performance evaluation of clinical staff.

Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Psychology or Social Work. Active or eligible for full registration (not provisional) with College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) or the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW). A minimum of 5 years' experience in providing mental health assessment and intervention, including restricted activity of psychosocial intervention.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs will also be considered: Master's degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Master's degree in Nursing. Master's degree in Occupational Therapy. Full Registration with respective regulatory College under the Health Professions Act, including authorization to perform psychosocial interventions. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Minimum of 5 years of relevant mental health experience, preferably in a community setting. Knowledge and experience with providing individual and group psychotherapy using evidenced-based modalities required, preferably in a community setting. Knowledge and experience treating individuals experiencing addiction (substance and/or process). Strong communication skills including conflict management and resolution. Clear understanding of the change management process. Ability to ambulate, climb stairs, and move quickly without limitations in a variety of environments. Candidate must be able to tolerate regular repetitive hand movements, keyboarding and telephone handling.

Preferred Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community. A strong understanding of client resources in the community and knowledge of mental health legislation including Community Treatment Orders is an asset. Strong skill set with electronic medical recording (EMR/Connect Care). Maintains professional discipline specific competency through ongoing professional development.
