As a subject matter expert role in Creation Technologies, the Senior Engineering Tech (IL) leads complex design projects in engineering, drives innovation, and ensures compliance with highest quality and compliance standards. This senior position requires extensive technical knowledge, leadership in solving technical problems, and a tactical approach to enhancing plant manufacturing processes. The role is central to mentoring Production and engineering techs and fostering a culture of excellence. It's designed for experienced professionals aiming to leverage their expertise to influence significant enhancements, optimize operations, and implement systematic improvements on the production floor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:

  • Leads the design, development and readiness of manufacturing equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety standards.
  • Handles advanced engineering tasks and escalates issues as necessary, ensuring compliance with quality standards and that products meet customer required specifications and standards.
  • Leads complex technical issue resolution, applying critical thinking to overcome challenges effectively.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge in electronics manufacturing, solving complex problems with innovative solutions.
  • Responsible for the creation of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed. Takes ownership of SOPs with Subject matter knowledge. Assigns SOPs to Eng. Tech 1 and Eng Tech 2s as appropriate.
  • Reviews and approves technical documents, ensuring they meet industry standards, customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Influences and supports departmental strategies, long-term objectives and technical excellence.
  • Responsible for the acquisition of  NRE items (stencils, wave pallets, fixtures, test supplies etc.) as per Creation procedure.
  • Reviews and approves technical documents, ensuring they meet industry standards, customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports the development and implementation of training programs for new technologies and processes, ensuring staff proficiency and operational excellence.
  • Leads cross-functional teams in process improvement initiatives, fostering collaboration and innovation across departments.
  • Conducts advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving, providing expert-level technical support to the manufacturing team.
  • Strategically plans and executes process validation studies, ensuring robust and reliable manufacturing processes. 

Test Engineering Tech specific:

  • Performs advanced Test engineering tasks and activities under the direction of Test Engineering team. Is an active participant in optimization of testing procedures, test station and test procedure development.
  • Assists the test engineering team with the development and implementation of test strategies, ensuring alignment with product specifications and customer requirements.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of detailed documentation for test procedures, ensuring reproducibility and compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Reviews and implements strategies in the maintenance and improvement of test solutions, ensuring manufacturability and alignment with product specifications.
  • Active participant in the troubleshooting and calibration of test equipment including new test equipment setups, new equipment verification ensuring repeatable outputs and reliability.
  • Coordinates with Production test engineering teams to integrate testing requirements early in the introduction process ensuring comprehensive coverage, reliable test results and enhancing product reliability.
  • Active participant in implementing innovation in test methodologies, incorporating the latest technologies and best practices to enhance test efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Occasionally supports Production with the analysis of electronic and electromechanical assemblies to determine cause of product defect to include circuit analysis, part identification diagnosis and replacement of defective components to bring product into specification.
  • Proficient in test executables, test stand, functional test systems and LabVIEW etc.
  • Analyzes defective components to determine failure cause and provide report, if necessary, for Engineering and Supply Chain corrective action.
  • Read wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Required Experience

  • College Diploma (2 Year), with relevant coursework in electronics and manufacturing processes or equivalent industry and/or military experience
  • Minimum of 8+ Years of progressive experience in electronics manufacturing, with a proven success record.

​Skills Required

  • Expert-level proficiency in electronics manufacturing processes and technical problem-solving.
  • Knowledgeable about IPC 610 Standard and J-STD-001.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to mentor, coach, and develop technical teams.
  • Strong tactical and strategic thinking, planning abilities, capable of driving innovation and process improvements.
  • Effective oral and written English communication and collaboration skills.
  • Capable of influencing decisions and presenting complex information clearly.
  • Advanced project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects and ensure optimal resource allocation.
  • Effective understanding of Lean principles, six sigma and industrial ergonomics preferred.
  • Can work effectively with PLM, MES, and CMMS systems.
  • Proficient in using Computer systems and knowledge of CAD/CAM and programming preferred. 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is between $62,600-$68,000 CDN per year. Full-time employees are also eligible for performance-based bonuses and benefits. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as a final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, education, location, and shift. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on the date of hire, schedule type, and hours worked.
