Medical Device Reprocessing Technician

Job Overview
Barkho Plastic Surgery is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery clinic serving the South Niagara region. We provide outpatient minor procedures for hand surgery, skin cancer, and other procedures performed under local anesthesia. We are seeking a part-time medical device reprocessing technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will integrate into our clinic through MDR protocol development, have experience in manual surgical instrument reprocessing and the use of an autoclave.
Duties
- Develop medical device reprocessing protocol based on the highest standards of infection prevention and control
- Manual reprocessing of basic surgical instrument sets and sterilization using an autoclave 2-3 times per week
- Ensure all surgical equipment is organized, and ready for use for procedural days
- Maintain a clean reprocessing environment by adhering to strict infection control protocols
- Document sterilization details accurately in clinic records
- Follow all safety and privacy guidelines to uphold high standards of patient care
Skills
- Ability to develop our clinic's medical device reprocessing protocol based on the highest standards of sterilization and reprocessing
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in handling surgical instruments with care to prolong their use
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Good communication skills to coordinate with surgeons, nurses, administrative, and other staff members
- High levels of emotional intelligence
- Prior experience and diploma certification as a medical device reprocessing technician is preferred but not required
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 3 – 9 per week
