Our client is a global leader in "design and make" software—the tools used by architects, engineers, and creators to build everything from skyscrapers and high-performance cars to Oscar-winning visual effects.

Their
Research Division
is seeking a specialized
HCI & UI Developer
to build the future of AI-assisted engineering. This isn't a standard "internal tools" role; you will be developing a novel
Decomposition Canvas
—an interactive environment where users visually break down complex mechanical systems using generative AI and 3D visualization.

The Core Mission

You will bridge the gap between complex AI research and intuitive user experiences. Your work will directly impact how engineers interact with structured data and 3D models.

  • Architect the Canvas:
    Design and build a high-performance, interactive canvas for mechanical assembly decomposition.
  • AI Orchestration:
    Integrate front-end interfaces with AI agents (utilizing LangGraph and Python) to create "human-in-the-loop" workflows.
  • 3D Visualization:
    Develop controls for kinematic movement and simulation outputs within a 3D CAD modeling context.
  • Research Collaboration:
    Partner with Research Scientists to translate abstract mathematical concepts into fluid, responsive UI components.

The Technical Toolkit

Must-Haves:

  • 3+ Years
    of professional UI/Web development experience.
  • Frameworks:
    Expert-level

    and
    React
    .
  • Language:
    High proficiency in
    TypeScript
    and JavaScript.
  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

The "Differentiators" (Highly Valued):

  • 3D/Graphics:
    Experience with

    or other WebGL libraries for 3D visualization.
  • AI/LLM Interaction:
    Familiarity with
    Python
    and
    LangGraph
    (or similar frameworks for building AI agents).
  • Complex UI:
    Experience building node-based editors, graph interfaces, or data visualization dashboards.
  • Engineering Context:
    Prior exposure to CAD software, geometry kernels, or engineering workflows.

Role Details

  • Format:
    6-month full-time contract with potential for extension based on performance and project needs.
  • Schedule:
    Hybrid. You must be able to work
    onsite 2 days per week
    at the Toronto office (located in the tech/discovery district).
