Job Title: Application Developer – Senior (TrustConnect Modernization Project)

Location: Edmonton, AB (Remote – Occasional Travel for Meeting)

Duration: 12 Months Contract (With the possibility of Extension)

About the Role: The Application Developer (Senior) will lead and assist in the design, development, testing, and planning of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) phases for data migration activities within the TrustConnect modernization project. You will analyze large volumes of legacy data to create meaningful insights for executive decision-making, ensuring successful migration from a 30-year-old financial system managing 19,000 client accounts and over $600 million in assets.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deliver ETL solutions for complex data migration projects.

Liaise with business units and stakeholders to align technology solutions with strategic goals.

Develop and maintain business intelligence solutions using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

Write and review complex functional and technical code designs (.NET, C#, SQL).

Define and document non-functional requirements including performance, availability, and recoverability.

Create technical designs, database structures, and application architecture documentation.

Participate in performance testing, troubleshooting, and optimization.

Support release scheduling, tracking, and status reporting.

Ensure solutions align with GOA application architecture and security standards.

Required Qualifications

Education:

University degree in Computer Science or related discipline and 5+ years of Application Developer experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience (up to 9 years of AD experience).

Experience:

5+ years – Building Business Intelligence solutions in agile environments.

5+ years – Delivering ETL solutions with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

5+ years – Data modeling, SQL programming, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.

5+ years – Written and verbal communications including business/technical documentation.

5+ years – Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (CRM/Finance) or similar platforms.

5+ years – .NET framework and C# development using object-oriented techniques.

5+ years – Working with senior management and project stakeholders.

3+ years – Working with Rocket Universe software and multi-valued databases.

3+ years – Experience in Public Trustee Office and trust accounting.

Must be eligible for Enhanced Security Clearance (includes Criminal Record and Credit Check).

Nice to Have Skills

SQL Server development (procedures, indexes, relationships, entity models).

DevOps CI/CD experience and integration with development workflows.

Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and Kanban methodologies.

User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in multi-stakeholder environments.

Experience designing and implementing complex IT solutions.

Public sector experience preferred.

Working Conditions

Primarily remote (must be located within Alberta).

Occasional in-person meetings in Edmonton (travel not compensated).

Must provide own equipment compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (Windows preferred).

Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 08:15–16:30 Alberta time.

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $85.00-$90.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.25 per week
