Overview

We are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Roofing Technician, to work out of our office in Victoria BC.  In this position, you will be responsible for site investigation, data collection, and preparing reports based on your findings. You must be able to assist with the coordination of multiple projects involving various scopes and complexity.  Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.

The Salary Range for this position is $51,800 - $77,800 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.

Essential Job Functions

• Assist in monitoring the quality of work in progress on site to ensure compliance with tender documents as well as applicable codes and standards.
• Complete various on-site tasks including measuring, drawing, exploratory cuts, identifying defects, photography, cleaning, etc.
• Perform site assessments, inspections and tests as required to produce condition analysis reports.
• Prepare observation reports from daily review in a detailed and timely manner.
• Compile data and photos in a report; edit, assemble and photocopy reports as necessary.
• Coordinate all data entry for invoicing of time and cost of work.
• Attend on site project meetings and mockups as instructed by the project manager or supervisor.
• Provide assistance to other technicians and technologists in the field.
• Assist with contract administration and client management as needed.
• Monitor scope changes on site, document changes, and notify project manager.
• Other assigned duties and tasks, as required.

Required Experience, Education and Certifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the field of roofing.
• Inter-provincial trade qualification (TQ) in the roofing trade.
• Preference to candidates with Registered Roof Observer (RRO) designation.In-depth knowledge of different roofing and construction systems.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel Requirements

Physical Demands – Work is performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e. industrial, construction and/or residential sites). The employee is frequently required to stand, walk on sloped and flat roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to client sites or job sites. Working at heights, including accessing buildings by ladders, swing stages, and mechanical lifts will be necessary. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary. The employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and writing reports. 

Overtime – There will be some occasions where overtime (or working after normal business hours) will be required to meet the demands of the position. 

Travel –Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
