Position Overview

The Optician will assist patients with eyeglass fittings, eyewear testing and other optical dispensing. They will demonstrate a high level of knowledge about various products to ensure patients are matched with corrective lens options that not only fit their medical needs, but also their lifestyle preferences.

The ideal candidate will possess strong sales and communication skills, business acumen, and bring a customer-focused approach to their daily work.

Responsibilities

• Give product recommendations to patients based on their vision needs and lifestyle
• Take accurate measurements of patients' faces to ensure frames being ordered/purchased are a proper fit
• Teach patients on proper contact lens use and hygiene
• Achieve sales goals and quotas as determined by office staff without compromising patients' specific needs and desires
• Manage inventory of frames and contact lenses
• Communicate with the optometrist regarding questions or concerns about prescriptions and other eye-related issues
• Prepare paperwork for patient insurance payments and billing
• Provide reception/administrative coverage as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must have (or be pursuing) an Optician License
• 3+ years' experience dispensing corrective lenses
• Experience in a similar position strongly preferred
• Experience with both contact lenses and glasses
• Ability to operate lensometer and other equipment
• Exceptional customer service and sales experience
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
• Ability to learn new software programs quickly
• Strong written and verbal communication
• High attention to detail
• Working knowledge of G-Suite and Microsoft Suite

• Employment Status: Full-time Permanent
• Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, including Saturday shifts
• Group benefits after successful completion of the probationary period
• Must be available to work at our St. Albert location as needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
