The Department of Island Studies at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a sessional instructor during the forthcoming Summer 2026 semester. All positions are subject to final budgetary approval.
IST 6220: Theory and Practice of Island Research II (0.25)
This course provides students with an opportunity to develop, integrate, and apply their knowledge of island issues and theory in a specific focus area. Students will be involved in practical experiences with private, public, or non-governmental organizations that deal with island issues. In-class discussions and online forums build on the knowledge gained earlier in the program, including in the introductory practical experience course (IST-6210).
Note this course is scheduled to be taught July 06-August 06, 2026.
Qualifications:
The successful applicant should have a minimum of a Master's degree in a relevant discipline or area of study, preferably in Adult Education or a cognate field. Experience in developing and delivering experiential learning curricula and other materials is required. Experience interacting with placement organizations, working in a university setting, knowledge of the research process, and knowledge of island studies is preferred.
